The Eleiko story - Once upon a time in Halmstad, Sweden

We believe that knowing the story and background behind the products and brands you encounter brings another dimension and meaning to the user experience.

Our blog series; "Once upon a time..." tells the brand stories of some of the equipment and products you can find at HAUS No3.

With this we hope that you find some interesting bits and pieces to entertain and inspire.

In the small town of Halmstad, on the west coast of southern Sweden, a company named Eleiko was founded in 1928.

Initially their main products were electric appliances (such as waffle irons). After the second world war, the global economy was tough. One day, one of the factory employees started to develop and push for making barbells as a side business, mostly due to his own interest in weightlifting. This eventually led to the first Eleiko barbell being produced, in 1957.

In 1963, after years of development, the first Eleiko barbell was used at a competition and it was an instant success. For the first time in a weightlifting competition - the same barbell could be used throughout the entire competition without bending. This was a revolutionary breakthrough in steel manufacturing and strength sports at that time.

Since then, Eleiko has earned the global "#1 gold standard mark" and is the preferred choice for most major weightlifting competitions in the world, including being the official equipment supplier for the Olympic Games.

For over 60 years, Eleiko has been a worldwide leader within international weightlifting, powerlifting and strength & conditioning communities. Their products have been delivered to more than 180 countries and are often seen at the world’s largest championships and in the most respected strength training facilities. More than 1,000 world records have been set with an Eleiko barbell, making Eleiko one of the world's leading equipment providers in strength.

At HAUS No3, we have a strong connection to Sweden in many ways, from our ownership down to our barbells and weight plates. Our choice of Eleiko as our barbell supplier stems from our firm beliefs in quality and attention to detail in everything we do.

The Eleiko barbell is famous for its optimal balance, the firm but not too sharp grip (in a waffle iron pattern, tracing back to its heritage), the synchronized smooth rotation and perfect flexibility.

Although having an Eleiko barbell doesn't automatically make you stronger or a better lifter, we are always making sure that our environment at HAUS No3 is the best possible for our clients to achieve results and a premium fitness experience.
